Carisbrook is definitely in the hunt for top spot on the ladder after they destroyed Campbells Creek on Saturday to the tune of 328 points as the Redbacks kicked their fourth highest ever score.
Their record score is 61.35 (401) against Primrose in 1983.
Saturday’s game was what is called a massive percentage booster, and if Natte Bealiba can now defeat the undefeated Lions next week, Carisbrook will assume top spot on the ladder and be minor premiers.
One of the highlights of the day was Anthony Zelencich kicking 17 goals for the game and in the process of doing so, kicked his 100th goal for the season. Zelencich has the MCDFNL leading goalkicker award stitched up as he sits on 106 goals before the final home and away game next week.
Carisbrook was unstoppable from the start of the game as they averaged 13 goals a quarter and only allowing Creek to have four shots on goal for the game. It was only on the final term that Tim Hobbs kicked truly for the visitors to post their only goal of the match.
The Redbacks had 16 different goal kickers through out the day, with Ash Munari also slotting nine goals and Steven Patterson kicking five goals for the game.
Their best players were named as, Zelencich, Patterson, Matt Bilton, Munari, Jackson Bowen and Nick Wright.
On a tough day for Campbells Creek, they named Maximilian Stewart, Justin Allison, Jayson Glenister, Mitchell Stevens, Tyson Logan and Michael Dettmer in their best players.
