Carisbrook can thank their lucky stars that they got off to a good start on Saturday with four opening quarter goals which allowed them to get over the line by 18 points at the final siren.
The Redbacks appeared to have the upper hand for the first half of the game and at half time had held the Tigers to just one solitary goal, but scoring was at a minimum as both teams failed to goal in the second term.
Lexton posted the opening goal of the second half one minute in when Tyler Trickey marked and goaled from a set shot that just cleared the pack on the goal line. The Tigers continued to have most of the play for the remainder of the term, but allowed the Redbacks to score two late goals through Matt Bilton and Dean Chester to see the visitors take a 26-point margin into the final term.
The Tigers had the breeze in the final quarter and came out firing with goals to Patty Parr and Ben Noonan inside the first five minutes, and then Parr took a strongly contested pack mark, and his goal at the 16 minute mark made it a six point game.
But once again, Carisbrook fought back late in the quarter to post the final two goals of the game through Tim Rinaldi and Dean Chester for the Redbacks to get the win.
Jackson Bowen had a good battle in the ruck with Jaykeb Lench, but was the dominant big man on the field and led his team admirably, and Andrew Toan played a strong defensive game setting up many attacking moves from the back half.
Anden Lever, Tim Rinaldi and Darcy Bond also played well for the Redbacks as did Cooper Tatchell, with Dean Chester kicking three goals.
Lexton named Jaykeb Lench, Pat Parr, Jack Peacock, and Jordan Phelan as their better players as well as Ben Noonan and Tyler Trickey.
