This Friday, the Carisbrook Historical Society will launch three new guide books and brochures for the town and its surrounding areas.

The society’s Discovery Series: Local Township Touring Guides, available from April 19 at the Central Goldfields Visitor Centre, will give tourists the unique opportunity to explore the history and heritage of Carisbrook, Majorca, Craigie, Moolort, and Rodborough.

Authored by the group’s Alex Stoneman, these booklets were put together with advice from the visitor centre’s staff to best present information.

“What we’ve done in the 20 pages is provide a map, a guide to the locations, photographs and descriptors of what people can expect to see,” Mr Stoneman said.

“The second thing we have done, in partnership with the visitor centre is update existing pamphlets.

“When people buy the guides, they will also be supporting the society.”

According to the Maryborough Railway Station-based, visitor centre’s Lee Duffin, the brochures and books will add to the facility’s overall offerings.

“It’s a great partnership because it’s got that tourism input from the visitor centre and revolves around what tourists would like to see,” she said.

“From a visitor perspective, our collateral needs to be something that appeals to them and is easy to absorb.

“For locals too, when they read this material it will come as a surprise to a lot of people who don’t know what we actually have in our backyard.”

The touring guides and pamphlets will be officially launched by councillor Chris Meddows-Taylor on April 19 from 11 am onwards at the Central Goldfields Visitor Centre — the guides will be able to purchase for $10.
