Carisbrook were dealt a 63-point loss on Sunday to a resurgent East Point at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve.
The Dragons were able to win every quarter, while simultaneously holding the Lady Redbacks goalless for the afternoon.
Three goals in the opening quarter gave East Point an 18-point lead at the first break, but Carisbrook did well to quell the Dragons’ scoring in the second quarter, holding them to a goal for the term to trail by 25 points at the main break.
However, it was the third quarter which saw East Point run away with the game as they were able to dominate through the middle, scoring at ease to finish with five goals for the term, increasing their lead to 59 points at the final change.
Carisbrook again did well to hold up East Point’s scoring in the last term, again holding the Dragons to a solitary goal, but it was the first and third quarters that did the damage as East Point were able to take a 10.5 (65) to 0.2 (2) victory.
Olivia Butler put in an impressive game to deservedly be named the Lady Redbacks’ best player, while Anika Munn continued to lead from the front. Tiani Jardine, Julianne Baldock, Deanne Evans and Danae Every completed Carisbrook’s best players.
It was a tough day all round for Carisbrook, with the under 16s going scoreless in a 65-point loss to the Ballarat Swans.
The Swans kicked away from the start, kicking three goals to nil to lead by 23 points at the first break, before Carisbrook reduced the Swans to just two goals in the second term to trail by 36 points at the main break.
The Swans were able to kick clear again in the third term to add another three goals to increase their lead to 59 points, but the last quarter was Carisbrook’s best as they held the Swans to a singular goal as they lost 9.11 (65) to no score.
Chloe Wyatt was best on ground for the Lady Redbacks, and she had support from Olivia Rogers, Georgina Bates, Tamika Loone-Grundy, Emme Johnson and Imogen Raats.
The Lady Redbacks make the trip to Alfredton Recreation Reserve this week to meet Lake Wendouree in the senior game, while the under 16s meet the second-placed Storm.
