CARISBROOK 26.18 (174) def NEWSTEAD 3.4 (22)
After a slow start, Carisbrook went on to make mince-meat out of the Kangaroos on Saturday in a 152-point win.
After a slow start, where Brook kicked 2.5 (17) to Newstead’s 1.2 (8), the Redbacks put on one of their signature thumpings by completely dominating the next three quarters of footy.
An 11-goal-to-one second quarter saw the home side up by 73 points at half time and after the break, built this to 94 points and kept the Roos to no score at all for the period.
To close, Stead got back on the board with 1.1 (7) while an Anthony Zelencich-inspired final quarter saw him kick six of the Redbacks’ 10 goals to help them win 26.18 (174) to 3.4 (22).
Zelencich would finish with nine goals, while Ash Munari kicked six and Matt Jukes, Tim Rinaldi, Zak Rinaldi and Michael Zelencich kicked two apiece.
Kieran Sait, Anthony Robins, Cordie McKendry, Jedd Pedretti, Adam Hunter and Toa Green were best on for the Kangaroos, with Dillion Hinge, McKendry and Sam Reece the individual goal kickers for the day.
Newstead will hope to regain some of its pride with a big win against bottom of the ladder Maryborough Rovers this weekend while Carisbrook faces Trentham, one of just two sides it has lost to this season.
