After suffering their first loss of the 2023 season last week, Carisbrook bounced back in style on Saturday, recording an 85-point win over Lexton.

The Redbacks assumed early control in the contest and never looked back, moving back up to second on the MCDFNL ladder in the process.

Carisbrook led by 24 points at the first break, but it could have been an even bigger margin if not for inaccuracy. The Redbacks kicked four goals from 11 scoring shots, while at the other end, Lexton kicked one goal.

The second quarter was more like it for the Redbacks, kicking seven goals to two to increase the margin to 55 points at the main break.

Lexton put up a pretty good fight in the second half, and were rewarded with a couple of goals.

But Carisbrook kept increasing the lead, kicking three goals to one to take a 69-point cushion going into the final break, before adding another three goals to one in the final quarter.

It was the Zelencich show for Carisbrook, with Michael best on ground, while Anthony kicked eight goals. Around them, Dillan Treacy, Jackson Bowen, Ash Munari, Brad Horsham and Thomas Gardam were also superb.

Lexton fought hard, with Shaun Field, Tyler Richards, Justin Hobson, Alex McLean, Thomas Cullinan and Reilly Sandland named in the best.
