CARISBROOK 23.18 (156) def CAMPBELLS CREEK 4.1 (25)

Campbells Creek provided a strong challenge in the opening term against Carisbrook, but the Redbacks still won by a convincing 131 points.

The Magpies provided a stern challenge early in the game for the Redbacks, kicking the opening goal through Luke Manning, and kicked three goals in the opening term to stay within 16 points at the first change.

But a 10-goal second quarter put the game well out of reach of the Creekers and the Redbacks just coasted for the second half, scoring eight more goals for the game.

After playing at numerous clubs in the district, former Carisbrook junior Ricky Pearson has returned in 2024 and he was amongst the goals on Saturday, kicking four goals for the game, alongside Liam Cummingham who finished with five.

Under 14.5 MCDFNL best and fairest last season, Brian Shafik-eid was also selected for his first senior game for the Redbacks and is a promising player of the future.

The consistent Matt Bilton led the way once again for Carisbrook, and has been named in the best players in all three games this season. He was well supported by Dillan Treacy, Liam Cunningham, Ricky Pearson, Richard Zelencich and Brady Neill.

Campbells Creek named Nick O’Brien, Kyle Gelatly, Joel Wootton, Nathan Stubbings, Dylan Stevens, and Sean Moss as their better players, with Wootton kicking two goals.
