One might look at the 34-point gap between the two teams on the ladder and assume Laane will take a comfortable trip to the season finale.

However, upon closer inspection, you will find evidence this clash might be a closer affair than expected.

After finishing 19 points adrift of finals in their return to A grade last season, Carisbrook has solidified their status in the division with a finals berth.

All-rounders Dean Nalder and Liam Hurse have been superb for a Carisbrook side mixed with experience and youth like Atticus Cullinan looking to make the most of their opportunities.

The Brookers have also showcased they are a formidable two-day side, winning against Beaufort and Clunes and nearly upsetting Laane in round 11.

A key component of their two-day success has been the return of spin maestro Ritik Yadav.

While only playing three matches, Yadav sits eighth for most wickets in the competition, with a remarkable average of less than 10.

Despite their opponent’s two-day pedigree, Laane will be the odds-on favourite after completing another undefeated season with names like Hannett, Graham and Romeo once again showcasing their class throughout 2024/25.

In parallel to previous premiership seasons, Laane has added some quality international talent to supplement their already accomplished team.

Alex Cook has reminded spectators of another A.Cook from England who dominated on Australian soil.

Unlike cricket legend Alastair, Cook has also shined with the ball, grabbing 20 wickets this season.

Kamaljot Romana has also been brilliant with both bat and ball and has already showcased he can play up to the big occasion, making a century in Laane’s One Day Grand Final triumph against Colts Phelans.

Minus their round 11 classic, Laane and Carisbrook also faced off in round six.

Strong knocks from Romana, Cook and Matt Smith set the table for Laane to take a 209-run victory, with Joe Lovel’s five-wicket haul delivering the killing blow.
