Avoca continued on their winning ways, defeating Talbot by 47 goals on Saturday.
The Bulldogs did what they needed to, sharing the load between prolific goalscorers Maddy Egan and Gina Beavis and keeping themselves in striking distance of Carisbrook and Natte Bealiba in the top two.
Avoca started strongly by scoring 18 goals to six in the first quarter, and added another 21 goals to six in the second to lead by 27 goals at the main break.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs’ rate of scoring slowed down a touch, scoring 17 goals, but they still held Talbot to five as they took a 39-goal lead into the final change.
The Hawks had their best quarter of the day and were competitive in the last quarter, scoring 10 goals, but it was the Bulldogs’ day as they added another 18 to finish strongly.
Egan scored 39 goals, while Beavis added 35 in what was a good all-round performance by the Bulldogs.
Talbot will be happy with the gains they’ve made compared to their last meeting with Avoca, having lost by 58 in the corresponding game last year, and Dom Roche scored 15 goals, while Tia Skelton adding another 12.
