CARISBROOK (60) def TALBOT (35)

The final margin may have been 25 goals, but Carisbrook had to fight hard for long stages against a gallant Talbot team.

Indeed, it was really the second and last quarters which saw the difference in class between the Redbacks and Hawks, although to the Hawks’ credit, the gap is starting to diminish.

A tight first quarter saw Carisbrook hold a one-goal lead after scoring 10 goals to nine. Abbey Nalder scored six goals for the Redbacks, with Andrea Schafer scoring four goals, while for Talbot, Tia Skelton scored four goals, Eleisha Phelps three and Dom Roche two.

Carisbrook got going in the second quarter, and were able to score 17 goals to eight to establish a 27-17 lead at the main break. Schafer scored nine and Nalder eight for Carisbrook, while for Talbot, Roche scored seven times and Phelps once.

Talbot looked to keep in touch in the third quarter, and did a good job, scoring 10 goals, while Carisbrook scored 13, with the score 40-27 the Redbacks’ way going into the last change. Schafer scored seven goals, and Nalder six for Carisbrook, while for Talbot, Skelton scored six times and Roche four.

The class of Carisbrook was telling in the last as they were able to finish strongly, scoring 20 goals to eight to eventually record a comfortable win. Schafer scored 11 goals to finish with 31 for the afternoon, while Nalder added nine to finish with 29. For Talbot, Skelton and Roche scored four times each, with Roche leading the way with 17 goals for the day.

Carisbrook will now look to continue their good form as they travel to Navarre after the King’s Birthday break, while Talbot will look to make it two wins in three games as they host Dunolly.
