CARISBROOK (51) def MALDON (35)

Carisbrook steadied in the final quarter to snuff out any hope Maldon had of getting back on track with a 16-goal victory.

The Bombers were able to enjoy a strong third quarter but their loss now means they cling on to their spot in the top eight, just half a game ahead of Royal Park.

It was Carisbrook that made the stronger start, scoring 14 goals to six in the first quarter to open up an eight-goal lead at the first change.

The Redbacks were able to increase their lead in the second quarter, adding 13 goals to Maldon’s nine to ensure they’d lead by 12 goals at the main break.

The Bombers, fighting to get back on the winners list, performed strongly in the third quarter, scoring 13 goals while restricting Carisbrook to just nine goals to reduce the margin to eight goals at the final change.

However, 15 goals from the Redbacks was enough to seal their win, and by restricting the Bombers to just seven goals for the quarter, were able to add some percentage as well, winning 51-35.

The win sees Carisbrook maintain third place on the ladder, with Lauren Jones, Holly Nichols and Elise Mottram performing well. Andrea Schafer scored 30 goals.

For Maldon, Georgia Spokes, Jaylea Ford and Alexandra Cummins were their best players, with Cummins scoring 17 goals.
