Carisbrook may have finished last on the ladder in the Red House Bakery under 16 competition, but put all of it aside last weekend to claim the premiership.

In fact, it was third vs fourth in the decider, with Laanecoorie Dunolly also winning through.

Laane decided to bat first at Jubilee Oval on Saturday, with Joe Lovel immediately going to work to build a big score for his team.

He would make 50 before retiring, while Lachie Condie was another who provided a handy innings with 20.

However, no other batsman would make more than eight runs, with Laane bowled out for 118 as the first day concluded.

Josh Nalder had a good cameo at the end of the innings, taking 2/4 off three overs, with Axel Purcell taking 2/13 and Cooper Mark taking 2/17.

When it was Carisbrook’s time to bat on day two, Elliott Cullinan immediately took control of the game, scoring an excellent 50 before retiring not out, with Mark also providing a steady hand with 20 runs.

It was enough to see Carisbrook reach the total with ease, finishing on 2/124 from 35 overs.

Lovel was Laane’s best bowler, finishing on 1/15 from eight overs, which included five maidens. He was also awarded the best on ground medal for his all-round excellence.

However, it was Carisbrook’s day, as they proved to be the best team in the finals when it mattered most.
