CAMPBELLS CREEK 1.11 (17) def by NATTE BEALIBA 39.14 (248)
Campbells Creek was handed a rough end to its return season, going down to Natte Bealiba in a big way for the second time this year.
The Magpies weren’t coddled in their first season back since 2019, handed two meetings with the reigning premier.
Much like in round three, Creek was flattened by Natte, with Saturday’s meeting acting as a trophy-winning exercise for the club’s key forward Danny Brewster.
Brewster reached the 100-goal milestone last round but had Trentham’s Jake Keogh on his tail in the race for the league trophy.
Brewster’s outrageous 20-goal haul against Creek on Saturday ensured he would win the goalkicking for 2022, taking his season tally to 121.
Despite this goaling onslaught, Creek managed to get on the board, but were only able to convert one of their 12 opportunities for a goal.
For Creek, Nick O’Brien, Jyanni Pollard, Mitch Kerney, Ben Carson, Dylan Stevens and Mak Ganim were best on in the game, with Kerney being the only goal scorer.
Brewster’s bag of 20 got him best on honours for the Swans alongside Josh Grant, Jordi Cossar, Lachlan Cameron, Glen Coleman and Jayden Templeton, other multiple goal kickers included Will Holt with five, Jordi Cossar and Trent Mortlock with three and Emmet Smith, Jaxon Stewart and Templeton each with two.
The end score of 1.11 (17) to Natte’s colossal 39.14 (248) was Creek’s closing result for the year, finishing 13th and escaping wooden spoon status due to their one-point victory over Maryborough Rovers earlier in the season.
For Natte, the 231-point victory was enough to elevate them into second place on the ladder, now up against third-placed Carisbrook in finals this weekend.
