Community radio station Goldfields FM is gearing up to get down and boogie with a disco themed fundraiser set to get locals into the 60s, 70s and 80s jive.

The Disco Party will kick off next Saturday night at the Maryborough Highland Society and is sure to get everyone up and dancing with music, dances and activities to suit everyone on the night.

All money raised through the event will go towards supporting Goldfields FM, funding the replacement of equipment and other costs the organisation have.

Goldfields FM presenter and the fundraiser’s DJ Peter Gray said there’s sure to be something for everyone on the night.

“Our disco party is celebrating the 60s, 70s and 80s music with some of the biggest hits around like Donna Summer, the Bee Gees and the likes,” he said.

“We’re really asking people to boogie on down, that’s what we want to see.

“It’s going to be a fun night and it’s all for a great cause, so why not come on down and get involved.”

Mr Gray said there will be something for everyone on the night, with a host of prizes to be won through raffles on top of the music extravaganza.

“Our wonderful sponsors are giving us goods and vouchers to give away so there’ll be raffles on the night and there are some fantastic prizes available,” he said.

“We’re really looking forward to putting this on, it’s going to be a huge night of fun.”

Mr Gray said the fundraiser, while designed to be a fun and social event, would help Goldfields FM continue its important work in the community.

“Goldfields FM is a fantastic station for the community, any charity organisations can come on and have a chat and we’re always keen to support the community,” he said.

“Fundraisers like this help us to replace equipment that breaks down or needs replacing.”

Goldfields FM’s Disco Party kicks off at the Maryborough Highland Society next Saturday, August 19 from 8 pm with meals to be served from 6. Tickets are $25 per person and are available at the Highland.
