While there was ultimately no silverware for the Maryborough Blazers junior teams, there was still a fantastic weekend for all teams at the Community Bank Avoca, Maryborough and St Arnaud Basketball Tournament across the weekend.

Games were played at four venues across the weekend, with the Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre (MSLC), Nolan Street Gymnasium, the Maryborough Education Centre (MEC) and Tullaroop Leisure Centre in Carisbrook all hosting games across nine different divisions.

As it transpired, Maryborough made six grand finals, while no team finished below third in a terrific weekend.

The under 12 boys were successful in making it through to the grand final, where they went down 45-22 to Sunbury Jets, and it was a similar story for the under 12 girls, who succumbed to the BDU Lightning in the final, losing 18-9.

Both under 14s boys and girls teams also made the grand final, but faced stiff competition from the Warracknabeal Wildcats. In the end, it was Warracknabeal who won both grand finals, defeating the under 14s boys 33-28 and under 14 girls 17-14 in both deciders.

The under 16s boys faced Ballarat in their grand final, but were ultimately outclassed by the Miners, who won 42-34, while the under 16 girls finished in third place.

The under 18 boys likewise finished third, but the under 18 girls were successful in making it to the grand final. But BDU Lightning were not to be denied, eventually winning the grand final 30-25.

The under 20 boys were the biggest age group of the weekend, with Maryborough eventually finishing in third in the group.
