Clunes and Beaufort will be desperate to get onto the winners list for the first time this season when the two teams meet tomorrow at Bull Millgate Oval.

With the ground not quite prepared in time last week, Clunes took their first home game to neutral ground against Laanecoorie Dunolly, but were unable to get the victory, as they lost 9/19 to be all out 63 after such a promising start.

However, despite that, they will be pleased by the early form of big off-season recruit Lachlan Morganti, who was able to score 32 runs in a stellar early showing for his new team, and will be hoping to add to this against the Crows.

While the team will be disappointed to have lost in the way they did, there were also some positives in the bowling department, as Ash Gunn and Jaxon Smyth continued to show they’ll be positive influences on the bowling scene again this season, with Gunn’s two overs yielding just four runs, while Smyth took 1/13 in three overs.

They now come up against a Beaufort team who will be desperate to break their 19-month winless drought, having come so close last week against Carisbrook.

They fell just 12 runs short, but the good work that the Crows did for a large part of their innings was undone by the 50 extras that were bowled, which included 34 wides.

If the Crows can get their line and length right in the early stages, they will be right in the contest from the outset.

Vice captain Lachlan Oddie gain impressed with the ball, taking 2/10 off his four overs, while Joel Pymer shook off early jitters to finish with 2/31.

Pymer was even more impressive with the bat as he tried to get the Crows back into the game after they fell to 3/15 in the early stages, scoring a fighting 24, while Zachery Dally (18), Richard Stokes (17), Jay English (17) and Ben Woolidge (11) also finished with handy runs.

However, they will be looking to avoid losing clumps of wickets which has continued to plague them in the recent past.
