Impressive winners last week, Maryborough will be looking to continue on their good form when they meet Beaufort at Princes Park.

The Owls will be relishing the potential opportunity to play at home for the first time this season, and will be looking to leverage their impressive nine-wicket victory against Clunes into some continued good form.

Meantime, Beaufort were dealt a significant double blow last week when they had to play a double-header. While they got away with a draw against Laanecoorie Dunolly when Laane’s charge towards the Crows’ total of 142 ended 28 runs short due to rain, they weren’t spared on Sunday against Colts Phelans, losing by seven wickets.

However, Beaufort have continued to improve from their start to the season, and will be looking to take it up to the Owls after a slow start in their T20 encounter.

The Crows haven’t necessarily sped up their run rate since that game, in which they were only able to muster 74 runs in their 20 overs, but they have been able to start to make defendable totals, scoring 134 against Clunes and 142 against Laane — an impressive effort when you consider they were 3/19 early on.

Blake Jantzen, Lachlan Oddie and Nicholas Cushing all played important roles with the bat over the weekend, with Jantzen scoring 32 on Sunday to lead the way, while Oddie scored 56 runs throughout the weekend, with Cushing adding another 47.

They will need more to beat Maryborough, however, with Tom Hart leading the way on Saturday against Clunes, top-scoring with 67 to help the Owls chase down the Magpies’ 117 in just 20 overs.

The bowling of Harry Lumsden was again on show, particularly late in Clunes’ innings where he was able to take four late wickets to ensure the Magpies would collapse in the bottom order, while Hart also contributed with the ball, taking two wickets.
