Fresh off their first win of the season, Maryborough Soccer Club will look to take the good vibes into another big home clash against Ballarat North United on Sunday at Jubilee Oval.
Last week’s victory against Victoria Park was Maryborough’s most complete performance of the season, scoring twice in the first half to take a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break, before holding out every Victoria Park challenge in the second half to take a 2-1 win.
Garry George and Julian Callea were the goalscorers, helping to give the men from Maryborough what proved to be an unassailable advantage.
It was a big result for the blue-and-whites, with Victoria Park sitting in sixth position, and they’ve been able to have some very promising performances against the sixth-placed Vultures, fifth-placed Creswick and eighth-placed Bacchus Marsh.
However, the third-placed Ballarat North United will prove to be a big challenge this weekend.
The two clubs have already met once this season, coming in round one, where Ballarat North United were able to win 7-0.
Meantime, Maryborough’s under 14s will have a meeting with Ballarat North United at Russell Square.
They’ll be looking to follow up from their good form which saw them defeat Vikings Blue 12-0 last week.
Just one of Maryborough’s under nines will play this weekend, with Maryborough Gold hosting Vikings Gold, while Mary-borough Blue will have the bye.
