The Maryborough Swimming Club held a successful meet in Bendigo on Sunday, with a number of members coming away with new personal bests. Lilly Olver had the standout result of the day, knocking a massive 14.28 seconds off her personal best in the 200 m medley.

Maryborough Swimming Club members had a successful outing for their swim meet at the Faith Leech Aquatic Centre in Bendigo on Sunday.

Despite continuing to operate out of Bendigo for the time being as repairs continue for the Maryborough outdoor pool, the best times were blistering in equally hot conditions, with 18 personal bests across the club’s 11 swimmers.

There were 145 athletes entered throughout the day, while coach Randall Edwards provided a highlight by swimming with the team to compete in two events, helping out the squad.

The best result of the day came through Lilly Olver, who had a terrific outing in the 200 m individual medley, knocking off an incredible 14.28 seconds off her personal best.

She was also successful in taking 1.91 seconds off her personal best in the 100 m breaststroke.

Georgina and Freddy Bates also had good days in the water, with Georgina setting new personal bests in the 25 m butterfly, taking 1.88 seconds off, while also taking 2.62 seconds off her best 50 m breaststroke and 1.56 seconds off her best 50 m freestyle time.

Freddy, for his part, took 8.6 seconds off his best 50 m backstroke time, 6.04 seconds off his best 50 m breaststroke time and 7.45 seconds off his best 50 m freestyle time.

Olivia Jardine rounded out a terrific day of swimming, securing a new personal best in the 50 m backstroke, taking 8.11 seconds off her previous best, while also taking off 8.89 seconds off her previous 25 m breaststroke best and 2.81 seconds off her previous 50 m freestyle best.
