CARISBROOK 184 def by BEAUFORT 4/186
Beaufort completed a chase of 185 in recording a six-wicket victory over Carisbrook.
The win continues a remarkable rise for the Crows, who now remain one of two unbeaten teams in the one-day competition alongside Laanecoorie Dunolly, and have established themselves as a legitimate grand final threat.
Carisbrook won the toss and elected to bat on what was a zipping Carisbrook Recreation Reserve outfield.
Martin Mark and William Coutts were determined to give the Brookers a good start, but it wasn’t to be as Joe Kingsbury struck early, luring Coutts into playing a shot straight at Craig Grant behind the stumps.
However, Cole Harris joined Mark, and the two were determined to ensure the Brookers were able to stay in front of the game.
The duo put on 84 runs for the second wicket before Harris was next man to go, with the competition’s leading wicket-taker Jay English striking by catching him off his own bowling.
Carisbrook’s leading run-scorer, Dean Nalder, was unable to stop English from taking his second wicket, tickling his delivery to Grant for four.
In-between, Mark had played a solid innings of 47, but had to go off due to injury during the innings.
Nick Broad and James Adam were required to stem the bleeding, and were able to put on 37 for the fourth wicket, but Adam was trapped in front by Lachlan Oddie, who struck for his first wicket of the day.
Two runs later, English would have his third wicket, with Broad playing a shot straight to Shannon Brown.
When Oddie struck again to remove Caleb Cluff, Carisbrook had suddenly gone from 3/128 to 6/133.
Cooper Mark and Cooper Willis put together a solid 30-run partnership to help put the score about 150, but Blake Jantzen would soon start cleaning up the tail.
First, Willis would hit a shot straight to Ben Grant, before Brandon Carter would hit one straight to Oddie. Jantzen finished off the innings with Lucas Hurse skying a ball straight to English, with his cameo resulting in 3/13 off just 2.4 overs.
Beaufort came out determined to chase down the total, and Kriss Ellis and Jantzen were able to get out to a solid start, putting on 43 for the first wicket.
Hurse struck for Carisbrook, however, luring Jantzen into a shot straight to Broad for 23.
But with Ellis in good form, and Jack Smith likewise doing some damage with the bat, the duo were soon able to come in and make things seem comfortable for the Crows, with the pair putting on 87 for the second wicket.
Carisbrook were in desperate need of a wicket, with Ellis passing 50 and Smith approaching his own half-century, but Adam struck for an important wicket, with Ellis hitting a shot to Cooper Willis to finish a fine innings of 57.
Smith and Lachlan Oddie were only able to add 14 runs before Adam struck again, with Smith finding Lucas Hurse to go out for 40.
Adam would soon have his third wicket, with Oddie hitting one straight to Cooper to leave Beaufort at 4/159.
One could be forgiven for thinking Beaufort might have had some nerves, but the Crows are a different lineup this season, and Brown and Kingsbury guided them home with 51 balls to spare.
Adam led the way with 3/40 off his six overs.
