The Goldfields Image Makers Camera Club has held its end of year prints award night, with a number of members coming away with awards.

Held since 1999, the club’s print awards marks the culmination of the group’s photography efforts each year and club president and life member Nola Tidyman said it’s a way to celebrate the achievements of members.

“The awards night is the only print event that we do and it brings together all the images we’ve taken throughout the year,” she said.

“It’s also an opportunity for these to be shared and shown to the public.

“The prints are currently on display at Tidyman Automotives and will remain on display into early January for people to look at.”

Judged this year by Mark Bevelander from Ballarat, the awards are spread across a number of categories including both novice and experienced mono and colour as well as image of the year, which was taken out by Susan Gale, the Ken Lowery Award, claimed by Jenny Donhardt, the Adrian Cook Award which was won by Bruce Fountain and the Members Choice award, also won by Ms Gale.

Ms Tidyman said the quality of photos group members are taking continues to improve, but said the club remains open to people of all abilities.

“The standard of work that we have is really high but we don’t want that to discourage new members,” she said.

“We do reach a high standard fairly quickly but that’s because everyone learns from one another and encourages each other.

“The club is not based on competition, it’s more about people with similar interests spending time together.

“We have three or four competitions a year but we meet every month and have outings and trips away on top of those.”

If people are interested in getting involved they can visit the Goldfields Image Makers Camera Club’s Facebook page or contact Nola Tidyman on 5460-5275 or call into Tidyman’s Automotive in High Street.
