Avoca’s 25-goal last quarter helped them keep up the pressure on the top two teams in the competition as they eventually got the better of a brave Campbells Creek.

The Creekers certainly put in an enormous amount of effort to keep up with the Bulldogs, but their class ultimately shone in the end.

The Bulldogs took a narrow five-goal lead into the first change after scoring 14 goals to nine, and were able to extend their lead to 11 goals in what was a high-scoring second term, with 17 goals scored to the Magpies’ 11.

But Avoca started to show what they were all about in the second half, with the Dogs doubling their lead by scoring 18 goals to seven in the third term, before finishing off the game with 25 goals to eight to finish comfortable winners.

The win means the Bulldogs are just one win away from securing their top four spot, although given the manner of their preliminary final exit last season, they will have their eyes set on having bigger fish to fry in the business end of the season.

Maddy Egan had a day out, scoring 42 goals, with Chantelle Wardlaw adding 32, while for Campbells Creek, Lillie Wrigley scored 19 goals and Jordan Bagley added 16.
