It may have been a battle between two unbeaten teams at the start of the afternoon, but Avoca underlined their dominance by the end of it, defeating Newstead by 60 goals at Avoca Public Reserve to remain unbeaten.

It was a dominant display throughout from the Bulldogs, who were able to take advantage of a slightly weakened Newstead outfit missing key recruit Tayla Gale.

The Bulldogs established an early 12-goal lead in the first quarter, with Maddy Egan asserting herself early by scoring 16 goals, while Gina Beavis added two. At the other end, Bri Jury scored four goals, while Shari Bright added two.

The second quarter was the Bulldogs at their dominant best, restricting the Roos to just seven shots at goal for three goals, while scoring 18 of their own.

Egan added 17 of the Bulldogs’ 18, while for Newstead, Jury scored three goals.

Leading by 27 goals at the main break, the Bulldogs weren’t prepared to take their foot off the gas, and instead continued to build their lead, scoring 23 goals to seven in the third term.

Egan added 12 goals, while Beavis scored 11, and for Newstead, Jury scored all seven of their goals, as the lead was 43 goals at the final change.

The Bulldogs finished out the game strongly, scoring 21 goals to four in the last. Egan added 14 more to make it 59 for the day, while Beavis scored seven. For Newstead, Bright added three, while Jury scored one.

The Bulldogs will now be favoured to make it four from four when they travel to Dunolly, while Newstead will look to bounce back against Carisbrook.
