Avoca have maintained their premiership push, defeating Maryborough Rovers by 28 goals.

Rovers could have secured a berth in the finals with a victory, but it was not to be as the Bulldogs were rampant throughout the afternoon.

Sixteen goals to eight in the opening quarter allowed the Bulldogs to dictate terms right from the start, and they extended their lead by scoring a further 13 goals to eight in the second term.

The Bulldogs continued to turn up the wick in the second half, scoring 14 goals to six in the third term to open up a 21-goal lead at the final change, before finishing strongly and taking all four quarters for the day, scoring 16 goals to nine.

The win means that, for now, the Bulldogs are level with Carisbrook on the ladder, although the Redbacks still have a game in hand.

Maddy Egan scored 42 goals to provide a dominant force in the goal circle, while Gina Beavis added 17.

For Rovers, Abbey Raven scored 23 goals and sister Ebony scored eight.
