Avoca a finalist for Top Tourism Town
Avoca has been announced as a finalist of this year’s Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards with community members able to help the town secure the win.
The small town neighbouring Maryborough has achieved its position in the Tiny Tourism Town category.
The awards celebrate towns and their communities in regional Victoria with strong community collaboration and commitment to tourism.
Pyrenees Shire Council deputy mayor and Avoca ward councillor Rebecca Wardlaw said it was fantastic to see the town recognised.
The council highlighted the town’s country charm and vibrant community alongside the sights and scenery that bring visitors to the region.
“This achievement belongs to the entire community — from local businesses and tourism operators to volunteers, residents and supporters who help create memorable experiences for visitors every day,” Cr Wardlaw said.
They’re competing against towns with populations under 1500 people, but the community can help the town eke out a win.
Public voting is open until 5 pm on June 26 contributing points toward the award’s result.
Pyrenees Shire Council encouraged the community, no matter who they are, to vote so Avoca can be on the map as Victoria’s Top Tiny Tourism Town.
“If awarded the title, the recog-nition would provide a significant boost not only for Avoca, but for the wider region and surrounding villages, helping attract new visitors, support local businesses and strengthen the local economy,” Cr Wardlaw said.
“Help Avoca bring home the title by casting your vote and encouraging others to do the same. Share the voting link with your friends, family and followers and help spread the word far and wide.
“Together, we can show Victoria why Avoca truly is one of the state’s most treasured tiny towns.”
