Throughout December and January, Gallery 127 at the Avoca Railway Station will exhibit the work of Dakeno Mark. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, the Melbourne-based visionary artist and poet has called Australia home since 1983. Dakeno primarily works in watercolour, pastel, charcoal and graphite and subjects include the nude, portraiture, visionary art, still life, design and works inspired by nature and design.

Keep an eye on the gallery’s social media for details of the Makers’ Market coming up in February. And artists and the public can plan ahead for the Anzac weekend, when Gallery 127 holds its annual art show and sale.

Art Trax in Beaufort (also at the old railway station), has a busy summer coming up with an exhibition of Pyrenees Artists as well as works by Brendan Cooper, textile art from Kate Blood and friends and the upcoming Pyrenees Sculpture Prize.

Set among tranquil bush and sculptured gardens, Possum Gully Studio in Adelaide Lead is the ideal gallery for visitors to relax and unwind during summer. Sculpture, painting, ceramics and prints from a range of artists is on display and available for sale.

Another beautiful railway station that has been repurposed as a gallery can be found in of St Arnaud – a town famed for its public murals. Throughout the next few months the Raillery Gallery will be featuring a range of artists such as Dianne Davies, Barb Fordham, Carol Holl, Sharron Hollis, Di Huggins, Prue McKechnie, Rod Orr and Carol Woodhams.
