Discover the past at Inglewood Emporium
1 min read

Lovers of all things collectable can quite literally step back in time as they walk through the doors of Inglewood Emporium.

Built in the 1860s, the shop at 76 Brooke Street originally provided goods for the thousands of miners who flocked to the area in search of their fortune. More then 160 years later, fossickers of a different kind tread the same worn floorboards as they scour the store for treasure.

Denise and Stephen Gartside have run their second-hand and collectables business from the Emporium for the past 10 years. Registered second-hand dealers for 25 years, the couple moved to Inglewood after the floods of 2011 destroyed their business in Castlemaine.

“After water went right through our business we had to start again,” Denise said.

“We decided we would look around to buy a shop in a little historical gold town close to Bendigo.

“It’s a wonderful building that still has many of its original features including wooden floors, skylights, and huge cellar. It even has the original Bushell's painted signs on the front windows.”

The Emporium theme is ideal for the incredible collection of quality old wares sold in the shop. Stock is constantly changing, but shoppers can expect to find rustic farm furniture, collectables, vintage vinyl records and vintage clothing and so much more.
