All results are in play after a fascinating day’s play at Goldfields Reserve on Saturday.

Colts Phelans will feel they will have the upper hand after bowling Beaufort out for 105, and sitting just 42 runs behind, they will look to make sure they get the runs required to take first innings points.

But with a couple of late wickets, the Crows will feel that if they can get a couple of early wickets on day two of their own, they’ll be in the game.

Either way, the Crows found themselves in a predicament, with some good middle order hitting allowing them to put up a score in triple digits.

The tight bowling of Nick Henderson and Dayne Baker helped get Colts off to a hot start, with Henderson claiming the first two wickets of the day.

First, he bowled Blake Jantzen for two, before luring Jack Smith into a shot to Graham Taylor for four.

Baker soon got into the act when he managed to lure Craig Grant into a shot to Rhys Egan for five, and when Dave Robinson came on and claimed the key wicket of Lachlan Oddie for 10, Beaufort were suddenly 4/24.

A much-needed partnership between Shannon Brown and Jay English helped get the Crows somewhat back on track, with English providing some big hitting, while Brown was as reliable as ever.

But English went for one shot too many, with Robinson claiming his second wicket by clean-bowling him after a partnership of 30 runs.

Joe Kingsbury also made some shots as he and Brown put together a 17-run partnership, before Riley Govan struck to remove Brown, who hit a shot straight to Robinson.

Baker and Henderson came back on to finish off the tail.

Henderson took the wicket of Kingsbury, while Baker bowled Cooper Cahill. Henderson then had his fourth wicket of the innings as he registered his best return of the year, bowling Ben Grant for nine, and Graham Taylor took the final wicket, bowling Ben Woolidge for 15.

Henderson finished with 4/23, while Baker’s 2/13 and Robinson’s 2/27 provided great support.

With Colts needing early runs to ensure they had the upper hand, Rhys Wagstaff and Sebastian Borg played their part.

Together, the duo put on 44 runs for the opening stand as they got a big foothold into the game.

But Ben struck first, trapping Borg in front for LBW.

Soon after, Jantzen would come on and make another significant impact with the ball, claiming the wicket of Robinson for a duck.

It meant that Colts finished the day at 2/63, still 42 runs behind the Crows.

Wagstaff will resume at 33 not out, and looms as the key wicket, while Luke Tatchell will start at four not out.
