Talbot Pub - cold beer and a warm welcome
1 min read

For the past four years, visitors to Talbot’s Court House Hotel and motel have been greeted by operators Reiny and Barry.

Built in 1861, at the height of the goldrush the Courthouse Hotel was one of more than 70 pubs in the township.

Offering old-fashioned country hospitality to locals and tourists alike, since Covid restrictions have lifted the pub has re-opened for lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday, with lunch served on Sundays.

Reiny said it has been good to welcome locals and tourists back to the pub and, as things settle post Covid, they will gradually get back to normal trading hours.

“We have a takeaway menu as well as sit-down meals on Fridays and Saturdays. As long as people ring before five o’clock, they can pick their meal up at about six.

“We can also open for dinners earlier in the week if we have a group booking.”

As well as diners, the pub has also welcomed back its local darts and pool teams, as well as its punters’ club.

The accommodation at the back of the pub includes six double rooms as well as a two-bedroom unit.

The busiest time for the pub is undoubtedly market weekend.

“We open at eight on the morning of the market so that people can get money for the stalls,” Reiny said.

“Then we have the Sunday roast that is always booked solid, followed by an afternoon of music.”
