A ‘Bonnie’ time in Talbot…
1 min read

Bonnies Talbot’ is one of the latest luxury accommodation options in the central goldfields. The lovingly renovated cottage in the historic gold mining town offers guests an ideal space to relax and unwind; providing a blend of traditional country living and all the modern conveniences.

Owners, Anthony and Jonathan, have known Talbot for more than 20 years. Just over seven years ago they purchased a small cottage and former shopfront in the tiny town. This became their ‘weekender’; the peaceful lifestyle allowed them to escape the hustle and bustle of life in the city.

Immediately, they set to work renovating the former watchmaker’s residence in order to create a rustic, comfortable, weekend retreat. Fast forward a couple of years, the neighbouring property became available and they decided to purchase the home to renovate and create both guest accommodation for visiting friends as well as a B&B for visitors to the region.

‘Bonnie’ was much-loved by her namesake; it was her home for around 50 years. The renovations and update were done slowly, with much care to retain and recreate the original charm while also adding modern touches.

Since opening as a B&B, ‘Bonnie’ has captivated guests. All have awarded it a five-star rating with one describing the accommodation as “a blend of modern sophistication and cosy charm”.

The owners enjoy hosting visitors who wish to base themselves in the charming accommodation and visit the attractions on offer on offer in the region such as bushwalking, antique shopping, wine tasting, restaurants and prospecting. Talbot’s proximity to larger regional centres such as Maryborough, Ballarat and Bendigo – as well as some of the smaller tourist towns such as Maldon, Creswick and Castlemaine – make it a perfect base. With rail connections from Melbourne, guests can also enjoy all that ‘Bonnie’ has to offer without leaving town.
