A very merry Mill House
Community members enjoyed Christmas lunch at Maryborough's Mill House last Friday.
Around 75 people celebrated a very special Christmas at Mill House last Friday.
Organiser Sarah McLean said the event was to ensure no member of the community is alone this festive season.
“Obviously it has been a lot of fun, the community coming together is the main part of it, there might be people that don’t have a lot of family around to spend Christmas Day with, so at least they get this before hand,” she said.
“There were over 100 serves of lunch by the time we did seconds and takeaway meals. There was also 16 lucky people that went home with a hamper full of kids toys and food.”
Mill House was at full capacity as attendees of all ages sat amongst endless decorations, alongside a hardworking group of volunteers.
“We have been busy for the whole week leading up to this, we have a really good team of volunteers that have been peeling and chopping veggies all week,” Ms McLean said.
“It was all possible because of that grant from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, so that’s a good little thing we’ve got.”
