The weekend of cricket ahead will get even bigger for the Maryborough District Cricket Association when the A reserve and junior grades begin for the 2022/23 season.
While there has been some frustration in recent weeks due to multiple washouts, it appears that there is a brighter forecast for the region on Saturday, with the prospect of all teams playing for premiership points for the first time this season.
A reserve will also see the return of MKM Cricket Club, who unfortunately had to pull out of A grade competition for 2022/23 due to lack of senior playing numbers. With Avoca Public Park damaged due to the recent floods, their first game will also double as a home game against Avoca at Mr Mobility Oval.
In other games, Laanecoorie Dunolly will play Colts Phelans at True Blue Floors Oval, Maryborough will play Talbot at Jubilee Oval, Clunes will host Beaufort at Bull Millgate Oval, and reigning champions Carisbrook will travel to Natte Yallock to open their premiership defence.
After both games were washed out last week, the 16 and unders will get their season underway this week, with Carisbrook to host Maryborough at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve, while Colts Phelans will play Laanecoorie Dunolly at Jubilee Oval.
The 13 and under season was due to start on Tuesday night, with Carisbrook hosting MKM, Avoca hosting Laanecoorie Dunolly and Colts Phelans hosting Talbot.
