A Reserve returns for 2024, with all eight teams in action.
Beaufort V MKM
Either Beaufort or MKM will break their duck tomorrow when the two teams on the bottom meet.
Both teams have had their moments of competitiveness, with MKM performing well against Talbot and Maryborough, while Beaufort had their moments against the Owls and Natte Yallock.
While MKM are winless, they’ve also had plenty of contributors, with Lewis Patten, Tristan Tack and Kushal Khamar scoring 194 runs and taking 13 wickets between them.
Meantime, for Beaufort, Andrew Grant is currently equal third on the runscoring charts with 128, having led the Crows admirably throughout the season so far.
Maryborough V Carisbrook
It will be an emotional day for both Maryborough and Carisbrook when the two teams launch the Craig Jennings Trophy at Princes Park.
With Jennings honoured after representing both clubs to the fullest on and off the field, both teams will be determined to get the job done in his honour.
Maryborough remain undefeated, and with many contributors throughout the season, with a league-leading five players scoring over 75 runs, they’ve also been hard to contain with the bat.
With Elliot Cullinan playing in A grade and leading the way with both bat and ball for the A reserve team, it will be interesting to see how Carisbrook line up this week as they look to end the Owls’ winning run.
Talbot V Colts Phelans
It’s a rematch of the semi final from 2023, with league leaders Talbot hosting Colts Phelans, who are loitering outside of the top four at the moment.
The Yabbies’ standout performer has been Jack Kenden, with the reigning A reserve player of the year again lighting up the league, scoring 70 runs and taking seven wickets so far, while Jye Kenden (72 runs), Jorde Bux (59 runs), Lachlan Roche (six wickets) and Jag Searle (four wickets) have also performed well.
They will be hoping to contain competition-leading runscorer Dean Walker, who has accumulated 209 runs for the season, while Dan McGregor has had a great season so far, scoring 128 runs and taking five wickets.
A win for the Yabbies will help keep them on top of the ladder, while Colts can move into the top four with a win, if Natte Yallock also fail to beat Clunes.
Natte Yallock V Clunes
Natte Yallock will be playing their second game since the start of November when they host Clunes in a clash between two top-four teams.
The Magpies rebounded well from their round two loss to Maryborough, having scored 519 runs in their last two matches, while Muhammad Shehzad leads the wicket-taking charts with nine, and Brad Stevenson lies equal second with seven.
Natte Yallock are quickly approaching their 50th anniversary and will be hoping to keep themselves in the top four with a win.
Evan Elliott has served them well so far this season, having scored 115 runs and taking six wickets, while Callum Liddicoat leads the way with seven wickets for the Swans.
