Maryborough will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of their 1974 premiership in the Ballarat Football League later in the season, with all members of both the senior premiership team and runners-up reserves team urged to attend.
The 50-year premiership reunion will be held at Princes Park while their modern-day Magpie counterparts battle Golden Square on Saturday, June 1.
In 1974, Maryborough held off a late East Ballarat charge after leading by five goals at the opening change to win the premiership by two points, kicking 10.12 (72) to East Ballarat’s 9.16 (70) to take a second senior premiership in three years.
