Covid-19
State free of active COVID-19 cases

Victoria hit a major milestone this week, recording no active COVID-19 cases for the first time in nine months on Tuesday, and has continued its streak of zero new cases.

The state recorded its 27th consecutive day of zero new cases and zero deaths on Thursday.

On Tuesday Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed the state was officially free of active cases.

Even though all cases have now been eliminated, Victorians are continuing to take on board the message to get tested for even mild

COVID symptoms, with 12,862 test results received over the 24 hours to Thursday.

Victorians have also enjoyed more relaxed restrictions which came into effect from midnight Sunday including that masks are now only mandatory indoors (outside of the home) and outdoors where social distancing is not possible.

Up to 15 people can now visit private homes and up to 50 can gather outdoors, while caps for hospitality, community and sport/recreation venues, weddings, funerals and religious ceremonies have increased.

The numbers also mean Victoria is moving closer to meeting the trigger point to move to COVID Normal, which according to the Department of Health and Human Services would mean no restrictions on gatherings, visitors, hospitality or sport.

If you have any symptoms, book a COVID test at the Maryborough District Health Service’s Fever Clinic on 5461-0362.

Symptoms of coronavirus include fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath, and loss or change in sense of smell or taste.
