Drive-through testing clinic now open at MDHS

A drive-through testing clinic has opened in Maryborough in a bid to make COVID-19 testing more accessible to the community.

The Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS) opened the drive-through testing clinic yesterday, after the health service had previously run its COVID-19 testing at its fever clinic inside the Wellness Centre.

Located on Florence Lane with entry and exit via Nightingale Street, the drive-through clinic is now open from 1 until 3.30 pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the option to scale the service up to meet community demand in response to outbreaks.

MDHS operations manager community services Robyn Jordan said the relocation will make it easier for residents to access testing.

“Our new drive-through clinic will make it easier for the community from across the central Victorian goldfields to get tested for COVID-19,” she said.

“Drive-through testing clinics are a safe and convenient method of enabling people to access testing for COVID-19 while providing better protection against the virus outdoors.

“Please continue to keep our staff and community safe by entering the drive-through site with caution and get tested if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild.”

COVID-19 symptoms include fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, a runny nose and loss or change in sense of smell or taste.

Community members must be in a vehicle to be tested and are reminded to drive slowly at the  testing site, follow instructions, return home immediately after being tested and remain there until receiving results.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms or require a test call the fever clinic on 5461-0362 to make an appointment.
