MyCricket data reveals MDCA’s best batsmen of the past 10 years
1 min read

While many great batsmen have graced local wickets over the past decade, who has been the best?

Using A grade MyCricket data from the 2010/11 season right through to the to 2019/20 season, it seems as though local cricketers are finding the ball with their bat more often and with a better pay off.

West Indies import Justin Bramble topped the most recent season's runscoring tally with 569 runs, a high score of 145 runs in the one-day grand final and an average of 71.13 runs per innings for Laanecoorie Dunolly.

Laane skipper Matt Smith pipped Bramble on the league batting award however, making 538 in 11 innings’ at a slightly higher average of 76.86.

Maryborough’s Sam Bartlett blitzed the scene with an impressive 607 runs in 2018/19 which turned out to be the highest season total for any A grade batsman within the last 10 years.

He then went on to win the Ken Gibbs medal that season, but was unlucky to miss out on the batting award with an average of 55.18 — 2.7 short of winner Will Collicoat (Colts Phelans) who made 463 runs with an innings average of 57.88.
