Twenty footballers now allowed to train together

The number of footballers permitted at club-sanctioned training has now doubled to 20, in line with the government’s latest restrictions on outdoor gatherings.

Clubs can allow 20 players maximum in a group with two groups allowed to share the same oval, plus coaches and required support staff, for non-contact training after the Victorian Government’s latest State of Emergency restrictions were put in place from Monday.

Players must maintain 1.5 metres distance at all times with no tackling, bumping, marking or match simulation.

Use of equipment is strictly limited to footballs and ground cones and all equipment must be wiped down after training.

If pairs or smaller group work is required for training, the groups must stay consistent to limit the contact between players.
