Council approves Harrison Street housing development

A 59 lot subdivision at 42 Harrison Street (pictured) was given a tick of approval by Central Goldfields Shire administrators last week.

An almost 60 lot housing development in Maryborough has been given the green light by Central Goldfields Shire administrators.

Labelled as an “exciting development”, during last week’s ordinary council meeting administrator Hugh Delahunty said the planning application is to subdivide the land at 42 Harrison Street, Maryborough into 59 lots, raging in size from 448 metres squared to 920 metres squared, over three stages.

“This plan does include the removal of some native vegetation in the process and as a council we have a number of things we have to take into account,” he said.

“As a council we have to consider whether this subdivision is in-line with the existing character of the area and I believe the application fulfills those requirements.

“This is an exciting development, it’s a further allocation of land for residential development, it meets all the requirements for a residential area and I think the conditions as outlined in the report are adequate to ensure appropriate subdivision is done.”
