While the Bendigo Football Netball League (BFNL) is yet to make a call on the 2020 senior season, its junior football league is eyeing a mid- July start date.
Meeting last Thursday, the Bendigo Junior Football League (BJFL) and its 22 clubs, including reigning under 12 reserve premier Maryborough, has put a target on mid-July for a competition return.
The BJFL is still awaiting confirmation on match day protocols and crowd numbers, but has set the date as a goal to work towards.
The league would be able to fit in a 10-week season before the Sunday, September 27 cut off date for junior home and away football as per an oval agreement with local cricket clubs.
It has been proposed by the league that there will be no water carriers and no boundary umpires used to keep numbers to a minimum on game day.
