Alison Teese takes over role as Rotary president

Maryborough Rotary Clubʼs Leigh Williamson has handed over the presidency to Alison Teese for the next 12 months.

The Maryborough Rotary Club welcomed a new president at its virtual changeover meeting on Thursday.

Alison Teese has been named president for the coming 12 months, passed the baton from outgoing president Leigh Williamson.

Ms Teese joined Rotary in 2002 and while the prospect of becoming president was never on her radar, she said it’s a “humbling” experience.

“I hadn’t envisaged myself as being president, but I was particularly inspired when I started going to the district conferences about making a difference,” she said.

“It’s humbling to think that your peers have confidence that you can keep the group together and happy.

“It’s the previous presidents of the club and the way in which they’ve done their presidency years that has inspired me to stay with Rotary.”

A member of the Maryborough Rotary Club for seven years, Mr Williamson said his time as president was “terrific”.
