Dipping a line in for recreational purposes, even as a party of one, has been clarified as a no-go by Minister for Fishing and Boating Jaala Pulford.
Despite the isolation recreational anglers actively seek out when going for a fish, Minister Pulford stressed this week that those in Victoria who leave the house for anything other than essential shopping, medical care, education and work or exercise risk being fined.
“The advice is clear, you need to stay home,” she said in a statement.
“There are a lot of sacrifices we need to make — and going out to fish is one of them.
“For some people, fishing is their job, and at this stage that’s okay, however if you don’t need to go fishing, you shouldn’t be.”
