The local soccer season was scheduled to start at the weekend, but has been put off for what the club hopes is a temporary hiatus.
In light of government recommendations to stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Maryborough Soccer Club last week postponed all club games and events until at least mid-April.
In a statement, club president Jay Murdock said that while the 2020 soccer season has been delayed by the virus, he wanted to stress that it has not been cancelled.
“This is not a decision made lightly and we are as equally disappointed at having to delay the start of soccer as everyone else is, but we believe it to be the safest course of action,” he said.
