Harness racing called off following COVID-19 case

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) has called off all meets in the state of Victoria, including at the Maryborough Harness Racing Track, due to a confirmed COVID-19 case in NSW’s racing circles.

Last week strict rules were put in place by HRV only allowing essential staff and participants to enter racing events to stop the spread of COVID-19 and to continue the sport of harness racing.

Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) confirmed this week than an official who worked at the Penrith harness racing meeting last Thursday has tested positive to COVID-19.

HRV has suspended harness racing immediately as a pre- cautionary measure and is working with HRNSW and the State Government.

“HRNSW has informed us today of the official’s positive test result for COVID-19,” HRV CEO Dayle Brown said.
