Donations flood fundraiser to support fire affected farmers

Locals Terry Allan and Jim Dewar have been amazed by the generosity of the Maryborough community which has donated 95 tonnes of hay along with other animal feed items for farmers impacted by fires in Victoria over summer.

A fundraiser set up to take hay and other animal supplies to farmers affected by Victoria’s horror bushfires over summer has well and truly outdone itself, collecting and delivering 95 tonnes of hay in just under three months.

Started by locals Jim Dewar and Terry Allan in January, the pair have been amazed by the large number of donations made by the local community.

“The generosity of people has amazed me. We just want to thank the people in Maryborough for their generosity in hay, feed and financial donations,” Mr Dewar said.

“We had a 25 tonne hay donation just this week and the last of that total 95 tonnes will be delivered to a farmer who lost everything near Corryong this week.”
