Under 13 girls’ cricket side competitive in T20 games

The MDCAʼs under 13 girlsʼ team has wrapped up its third season with the completion of the Central Highlands T20 competition, (back) Paul Rumpff (girls cricket coordinator) Emma King, Eloise Lighten, Shanae Hunt, Tamika Rumpff, Shakiah Humphrey, (front) Arabella Koop, Emmy Lusher, Caitlin Thoroughgood, Charlie Rumpff.

Recently the Maryborough District Cricket Association’s under 13 girls took part in the Central Highlands T20 girls competition played in Ballarat and Gisborne to cap off season number three.

The side played three games as part of a round robin competition and then a play off game for their end standings.

In the first game against Castlemaine, the girls compiled a very competitive 72, with Shanae Hunt top scoring with a stylish 29.

The girls battled hard in the field, with Castlemaine coming out on top with 119.

Best of the bowlers were Shakiah Humphrey with 1/9 and Emma King 1/11.

In game two the girls faced the top rated and eventual winners, Gisborne Green. Batting first, the girls managed 36, with Hunt again leading the way with 13, but there were also excellent contributions from Eloise Lighten and King.
