Owls hopeful of knocking off Crows

Ben Hoban set up Maryborough for a big win on day one, knocking together 102* runs against Beaufort. Both teams will return to the pitch this weekend for day two.

After a 7/230 performance on day one, Maryborough should have no trouble at all in knocking off Beaufort, the lowest scoring side within the competition, this weekend.

The Crows are likely to become quick prey to the Owls tomorrow, with Beaufort stepping up to bat.

Batting has been somewhat of a sore spot for Beaufort with the team trailing the next lowest scoring team in A grade by 173 runs.

The Crows faced six balls last weekend, making 0/4 with Blake Jantzen (3) and Will Sargent (1) opening.

This pair will again take to the crease this weekend, hoping to get some runs on the board before Maryborough gets on a roll.

Both Jantzen and Sargent have made minimal contributions with the bat this season, boasting personal totals of 36 and 37, and will hope to make their best scores yet to keep Beaufort on track.

The team’s best scorers, Lachlan Oddie (180 runs this season) and Zac Mcleod (159) both lay ahead in the order as does Shannon Brown, who notched a half century in A reserve just a few rounds ago and Craig Grant who has made 72 runs, contributing in every game that he has played.
