MKM gets cracking in clash with Colts

Coltsʼ Nick Henderson was taken as the last wicket of the day with this smashing delivery that sent the bails flying.

Colts Phelans elected to bat first on Saturday, but MKM was quick to silence its hosts, very conscious of the finals placing that depends on the game’s result.

A win over Colts this round will lock MKM in to finals for the first time in six years, explaining the side’s tenacity at the weekend.

Rhys Wagstaff and Luke Baker opened for the side but Wagstaff (3) was quick to fall, bowled out by opposition skipper Aaron Westbrook.

Branden Wagstaff (11) tried his hand alongside Baker but like his brother, fell shortly after.

Colts captain Rhys Egan didn’t add any score of his own before he was bowled LBW by Jaxon Smyth, leaving Baker again to saddle up alongside a new partner.

Luke Tatchell was next in the order for Colts, pairing with Baker (33) for 25 runs before he was finally dismissed.

Tatchell (9) was the next to go, dismissed by Anthony Cross and leaving Colts at a very worrying 5/63.

Grant Rogers and Kane Shepherd bolstered the side with a 21-run partnership, cut short with Rogers’ (23) dismissal at the hands of Cross.

While Richard Clark was bowled for no score, he made way for Shepherd to add nine runs, before he was bowled by Smyth.
