The Maryborough community will be safer than ever thanks to a more than $8000 government grant awarded to the local council to address crime and safety issues.
The funding comes from the State Government’s Community Safety Fund and will be used by the Central Goldfields Shire Council for a local safety project.
Announced by Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford, the $8221 grant will be used to install LED lighting around the Maryborough Regional Library and Visitor Information Centre to improve security and surveillance in the area.
Central Goldfields Shire acting CEO Rebecca Stockfeld said while there’s been no particular incidents at the site, lighting is always helpful.
