Families will be front and centre at this Saturday’s Maryborough climate rally as locals call on all levels of government to declare a climate emergency.
Spearheaded by local Tony Macer, along with support from the Goldfields Sustainability Group, Tony said he would love to see plenty of grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren at the rally.
“Of course, everyone is welcome to come along, listen to the short speeches and participate in the show of hands to support the calls for the declarations of climate emergency at each level of government,” he said.
The rally will begin at 10.30 am at the Maryborough Resource Centre.
At 10.40 am there will be a moment’s silence as the CFA’s historic bell is rung from the fire station as a symbolic gesture of unity and in remembrance of those who have lost their lives in the current bushfires.
“Our CFA volunteer firefighters are so revered in our community and we are extremely pleased to have them actively join us at the rally,” Tony said.
